Beach cleanup
Club Green Volleyball got connected with the Surfrider Foundation and did a Beach Clean-up followed by a Club Green Beach Practice and fun in the sun at Bolsa Chica State Beach. Our goal is to preserve the environment so future genrations can enjoy it too.
After the beach clean-up, the athletes were introduced to playing volleyball on the sand. Warm-up with a cat mouse game, then beach drill and Queen of the court.
The day culminated with a goumet buffet lunch consisting of carne asada, cornish game hens, grill sausages, hamburgers, and an array of salads, deserts, salsa, etc. Thanks to all the Club Green Parents who provided the time effort and support for this day.
Club Green Digs
Athletes of Club Green Volleyball went to Lake Arrowhead to help plant over 400 seedling trees to help restore 185,000 acres of fire damaged forest. Under the direction of Forest Aid(from ashes to action), Club Green Members and their friends spent the day digging and planting seedlings in 41 degree weather.
Forest Aid(From ashes to action) was formed in March with the concerted efforts of the United States Forest Service, the San Bernardino National Forest Association and TreePeople to replant 185,000 fire ravaged acres of forest with the help of volunteers. The goal is to plant 32,000 seedlings by the end of May. Club Green volleyball athletes are proud to help them make a difference one tree at a time. To date, nearly 5,000 trees have been planted. According to the organizers, this is the only program of this type on the West Coast and it is one of the largest volunteer efforts in the nation.
Club Green Volleyball is an eco friendly volleyball club that teaches girls the skills of volleyball. The club prepares girls to play in middle, high school, and college. Other Club Green Volleyball projects include collecting unused cell phones to keep them from reaching landfills and releasing toxic chemicals into the environment. The phones are exchanged for a calling card and the card is sent to soldiers serving overseas so they can call their loved ones at home. Also Club Green Volleyball uses eco friendly uniforms and apparel, encourages eco friendly practices, recycles plastic water bottles and ink cartridges and plans to do a beach cleanup.
